I'm Stacey, an artist, garden designer, and horticulturist living in the Herefordshire countryside. I operate from Ross-on-Wye, where I run my Garden & Design Boutique, Dor's Garden, situated on the high street. Founded in 2021 in honour of my Nan, Doreen, the boutique focuses supplying practical garden advice, tools and decor, as well as garden-themed paintings, dried floral arrangements, and botanical prints—all created here by me.

I'm thrilled to share my first attempt at drying fresh flowers, and I think it turned out amazing! What are your thoughts?

These dried blooms are going to make a stunning box frame arrangement for the shop. They dried even better than I expected. I've learned a few things to improve next time, but it's a great step towards offering a preservation service for special occasions. Turning meaningful flowers into lasting keepsakes.

Resin experiments are coming soon!

I made a thing…

I've been quiet online lately because, honestly, social media isn't my thing. As important as it is for marketing, I'm realising running a shop isn't really for me either - especially when it means spending hours creating content to drive sales.

My shop is lovely, and customers always compliment its beauty, but kind words don't pay the bills. I'm not going anywhere yet, but I'm changing my mindset from Dors Garden as a high street shop to Dors Garden as my creative workspace.

With limited cash flow to buy stock, my product offering is evolving out of necessity. I've expanded into dried and preserved floral wedding displays over the past three years, which I absolutely love. Now, I'm experimenting with preserving fresh flowers to create lasting art pieces.

In recent months, Dor’s Garden has undergone a slight transformation. Originally designed as a high street garden shop featuring UK-made tools and plants, it was intended to be a vibrant hub for gardening enthusiasts. However, challenges like rising costs and supply chain issues have prompted a shift in focus.

I have embraced my artistic roots, personally creating all planted arrangements, dried floral arrangements, artworks, and greeting cards on-site. This hands-on approach guarantees that each item is unique and deeply connected to me. The shop now proudly offers a variety of dried florals, which bring a long-lasting, rustic charm to any decor and I cater for wedding arrangements.

Despite these changes, my primary role as a garden designer remains steadfast. I am passionate about gardening and eager to share my expertise. I invite you to visit for advice or inspiration. Your support and engagement are invaluable, and I am excited to continue this journey together at Dor’s Garden.

It’s Saturday, so here is this week in pictures…

Started off with a refresh of this lovely little terrarium for a customer 💚 total clean up and new planting had it looking good as new!

The art materials are officially out of their decade long retirement. I’ve been getting creative and experimenting more this week. Lots of gorgeousness coming available soon!

Planted glassware creations are proving popular so I’ve created a few more pieces this week. If you’d like a bespoke piece made up, just drop me a message 👍🏻

Next up was a quick visit to one of my previous garden design projects. Wonderful to see the plants now settling in. This space was a completely empty new build plot back in Spe’23! If you or anyone you know is seeking a garden designer, @stacey_kath is taking on new projects now!

A few chilly starts for me on the garden maintenance front. Plus I got moo’d at 🐮😅

Large botanical ink relief prints will soon be up for grabs. These will be mounted and framed into some lovely oak frames I have here. There will be x6 available in total as that’s how many frames I have. As ever, always happy to create bespoke pieces 👍🏻

Finally for this week, I’ve been admiring all your garden plant pre-orders! This fortnights list was released this week so if you have a spot to fill in the garden, request my availability list today!!
